Symptom |
The idle become rough a while after the car warms up and occasionally stalls. The symptom most noticable in the slow moving traffic when the radiator cooling fan cuts in.
However, the symptom does not appear when the car is over a certain speed.
|
Cause |
This car was fitted with one of those 'Performance' type air filter. The original air filter, casing and the intake air trunk had been removed and fitted with this performance air filter.
When the engine warms up and the radiator cooling fan cuts in, the warm air from the radiator blew directly onto the air filter which sucked in the hot air causing the idle to become rough and at times stalled.
|
Action |
The air filter, the casing and the intake air trunk has been reverted back to the genuine parts.
