CODE DIAGNOSIS TRIGGERED BY ASSOCIATED AREAS
1 NORMAL 'Check Engine' warning light will flash continously to show that the system is OK. NIL
12 RPM signal When no RPM signal (G, Ne) to the ECU after or while cranking for more than 2 seconds. * Wirings and connectors (crankshaft position & starter signal systems)
* Distributor
* ECU
13 RPM signal When no RPM signal (Ne) to the ECU with engine speed above 1000 rpm. * Wirings and connectors (crankshaft position signal systems)
* Distributor
* ECU
14 Ignition signal When no ignition signal from the igniter constantly 8 to 11 times to the ECU. * Wirings and connectors (igniter, +B, IGf, IGt)
* Igniter
* ECU
21 O2 sensor signal Shows up when the following conditions are persistence after cancellation taking place with IGN switch turned off and back on again;

When O2 sensor feedbacks 0.35-0.7V while the engine speed is above 1500 rpm with the vehicle is being driven at speeds below 100km/h.

Low signal output from the O2 sensor for 0.5 seconds while switched off or high signal output for 0.5 seconds while switched on.
* O2 sensor
* Fuel system (injector, fuel pump)
* Ignition system (ignitor, spark plugs)
* Intake air system (Air flow meter)
* ECU
22 Coolant temperature signal Whenever a short circuit or a circuit detachment in the coolant temperature sensor is detected for over 0.5 seconds. * Wirings and connectors (coolant temp systems)
* Coolant temp sensor
* ECU
24 Intake air temperature signal Whenever a short circuit or a circuit detachment in the intake air temperature sensor is detected for over 0.5 seconds. * Wirings and connectors (intake air systems)
* Intake air temp sensor
* ECU
25 Lean error Shows up when the following conditions are persistence after cancellation taking place with IGN switch turned off and back on again;

When the signals from O2 sensor does not turn over from 'lean' to 'rich' signals for over 90 seconds while the feedbacks from other systems have been established.
* Wirings and connectors (O2 sensor)
* O2 sensor
* Fuel system (injector, fuel pressure)
* Airflow meter
* Coolant temp sensor
* Intake air temp sensor
31 Air flow meter signal Whenever a circuit detachment in the Vc signal or a short circuit between Vs and E2 in the air flow meter is detected for over 0.5 seconds. * Wirings and connectors (Vc, Vs, E2)
* Air flow meter
* ECU
32 Air flow meter signal Whenever a circuit detachment in the E2 signal or a short circuit between Vc and Vs in the air flow meter is detected for over 0.5 seconds. * Wirings and connectors (Vc, Vs, E2)
* Air flow meter
* ECU
41 Throttle position sensor Whenever a short circuit or a circuit detachment in the throttle position sensor is detected. * Wirings and connectors (throttle position systems)
* Throttle position sensor
* ECU
42 Speed sensor signal When the speed sensor sent 0km/h signal to the ECU for more than 8 seconds while the engine speed is between 2000 rpm and 5000 rpm with coolant temp of above 80 Centigrade. * Wirings and connectors (speed sensor systems)
* Speed sensor (meter built-in)
* ECU
43 Starter signal When no STA signal to the ECU until the engine speed reaches 800 rpm while stationary.
* Wirings and connectors (starter systems)
* ECU
51 Switch signal When the air conditioning is on with T and E1 terminal of the service socket linked together whilst IDL contacts OFF or with automatic gear lever selected to position other than 'P' or 'N'. * Wirings and connectors
* Neutral starting switch
* Throttle position sensor
* Air conditioning switch
* ECU
52 Knock sensor signal When a short circuit or a circuit detachment was detected in the knock sensor or its connectors while the engine speed is between 1600 rpm and 5200 rpm.
* Wirings and connectors (knock sensor systems)
* Knock sensor
* ECU
53 Knock management When the knock management part of the ECU fails while the engine speed is between 650 rpm and 5600 rpm.
* ECU
